WHO ARE THE PRIOR?
We are The Prior, a modern take on classic 1970s rock and country music. Inspired by the sonic properties of older bands such as Fleetwood mac, the eagles and Led Zepplin and newer artists storytelling such as Hozier, Sam fender and the civil wars, they seamlessly blend these genres with their own modern flare and edge bringing a retro sound the modern world.
With a lineup composed of Ruby Cooke on lead vocals, Will Joseph on lead guitar and vocals, Milo Benwell Froggatt on Rhythm Guitar, Ben Mockler on Bass Guitar and Jago Forster on Drums.
Founding members Ruby Cooke and Will Joseph met in their first year studying at the Royal Northern College of Music and Immediately began writing together. Their shared love for folk artists such as Bon Iver and Damien Rice mixed with a love for classic rock lead to a sound unlike any other.
A mix of complex guitar lines and intriguing woven vocal melodies leads to a signature folk rock inspired sound reminiscent of bands from the 70s that inspire their music into today.
